Sabine is a Professor at Seneca College in the School of Fashion, Toronto, Canada. Her research topics are sustainable fashion, textile waste and social innovation. Her main interest is how social innovation can help to make the fashion industry a circular system. Sabine has studied Apparel Engineering in Germany and worked for many years in the fashion industry as an international buyer and team leader for different brands. In 2022 she earned a doctor’s degree from University of Waterloo in the School of Environment and Resource Sustainability (SERS) on how to transition the fashion industry towards sustainability.
Together with Kelly Drennan she co-convened the Ontario Textile Diversion Collaborative (OTDC), a project of Fashion Takes Action, and continues to work on numerous textile waste-related projects including FTA’s current completed study How to build supply chains for textile recycling.
