Lis Suarez-Visbal is a social innovator, and an elected Ashoka fellow in Canada in 2011. She was the founder and former director of FEM International and ETHIK Eco design hub. Lis has more than 15 years of experience in the global fashion field, working on sustainability issues, circular practices, social impact and gender equality. With a systems-thinking mindset, she has worked on projects connecting producers and consumers, governments and academic institutions, to co-create a more sustainable fashion industry. She has worked in Canada, The Netherlands, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Mali, Thailand & India. Currently she is pursuing a PhD at Utrecht University in the Netherlands where she specialized in the social impacts of circular strategies in textiles and apparel, with a gender equity lens.
