Amisha Darbar is currently the Manager of Abodana Handicraft Cooperative in Ahmedabad and is a master craftsperson in embroidery. The cooperative has 350 women artisan members and offers them a sustainable means of livelihood. Abodana Handicraft Cooperative works in both B2B and B2C creating garments, home decor, accessories, and stationery and taking custom orders. Amisha joined Abodana 15 years ago as an artisan practicing block print, embroidery, and patchwork, and over the years, has worked her way up. She was key in reviving the cooperative, after it had almost been on the verge of shut down, organizing artisans from communities, upgrading their skills, and connecting them with livelihood. She brings new artisans into Abodana’s fold, organizes upskilling programs, takes care of new business development, and ensures timely production and delivery. Today she is a manager and master craftsperson and with her own income, has managed to buy her family a house.
