Alice Chee is the founder of Mode Accessories, Canada’s only trade show of its kind dedicated to the fashion accessory industry. She launched and produced the show from 1987 – 2018. It is one of the longest running national fashion trade event in the country.
Her earlier tenure in the exposition industry saw her launched the Canadian Housewares Show. Chee was involved in the management of The CGTA Gift Show, The Canadian Fur Fair, The Stationery Show, The LLHA Show, and The Public Works Show.
A seasoned trade event professional, Chee was nominated in 2020 for a Lifetime Achievement Award by her peers in the exposition industry in Canada.
Chee also lent her expertise to other organizations, managing a business forum for the Metro Economic Development Council and spearheading joint projects with FILC (Fashion Industry Liaison Committee, City of Toronto). Chee served as a director of HKCBA (Hong Kong Canada Business Association) and the editor of its newsletter. She was guest speaker at Toronto Fashion Incubator’s Fashion Boot Camps, and at George Brown College.
Since selling one of her corporations at the end of 2018, Chee has been focusing on the complex issue of sustainability, researching certification standards and verification processes to qualify claims in sustainability and environmental stewardship, particularly with the fashion industry, for the purpose of protecting the consumer from unverified claims and green washing.
Chee holds a masters degree from University of Toronto. She also studied Journalism at Ryerson. She holds certificates on Sustainability studies from LIM College, Pratt, MOTIF, and the Textile Institute.
